George Dimitrov Promo Kit
During the last ten years I have been actively performing in Central Florida’s
club scene. My musical background is diverse and somewhat universal, combining
influences from classic rock, jazz and classical. My musical journey began
in the late seventies when I was young and extremely lucky to be able to play
mainly classic rock - from the Beatles and Clapton, to Pink Floyd and Deep
Purple.
At that time I got seriously intrigued by the world of the classical
guitar. I attended The Sofia Conservatory in Bulgaria for two years where
I first explored some of the basics of jazz guitar. The irresistible gravity
of Jazz and classical lead me to a true musical obsession. My major influences
are by modern jazz-rock players like Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin, as well
as by some traditionalists like Joe Pass and Larry Byrd. Latin and Classical
influences include Andres Segovia, Paco De Lucia, and Julian Bream.
The following
years I participated in a variety of projects, which included Classic Rock,
classical guitar recitals, and a classical duo with the violinist Constantine
Ditchev.
The “American Period” for me began soon after I moved to Central
Florida and met with Craig Roy and Joseph Martens. They were conceiving an
alternative country project and soon we found ourselves members of the Hindu
Cowboys. Almost ten years later the Hindu Cowboys remains of the most popular
unsigned bands in Orlando. I began attending SCC where I joined college’s
Big Band, conducted by Dr. Bill Hinkle. My love for Jazz mixed with a strong
dose of inspiration and encouragement by Dr. Hinkle led me to audition for
Central Florida Jazz Society’s annual scholarship, in which I received first
prize.
My solo jazz guitar performances encompass a wide variety of acoustic
guitar styles - Latin jazz, Bolero, Bossa Nova, Samba, Salsa, and Contemporary
Jazz. The essence of my show is a tribute to the jazz guitar legends. I perform
original material as well.
I currently perform at Latin Quarter - Universal
Studios City Walk, Café Positano, Logan’s Bistro as well as private parties
and weddings.
